BILL NOBLE PARK

Summer Block Party: A Night of Community and Water Balloons

Splashing into a Year of Building Community Relationships

(Gardendale, Ala.) July 2, 2024– “The first annual Summer Block Party at Bill Noble Park was a hit. We love having these community events and seeing everyone come out to the park. It’s a great way to celebrate the different seasons together and just enjoy spending time together as a community.” said Local Programming and Special Events Manager Jessica Mahaffey. Summer Block Party was the second community event of the 2024 season and took place on June 27th. During the event kids participated in a Scavenger Hunt around the park and a water balloon toss game. While the kids were enjoying the scavenger hunt, parents got to vote on their favorite car or truck during a car show, visit different vendors or one of the food trucks that were onsite. The event drew in around 700-800 attendees that participated in the festivities.

The car show gave away two people’s choice awards for the best car and people’s choice for the best truck. Event attendees got to participate in voting for their favorite car and truck.

“Anytime you can have a great family-friendly event for the community is wonderful. The staff at Bill Noble Park put on a great event. I was talking to some community members that attended the event and they absolutely loved it. I am looking forward to our next community event which will be fall themed on October 25th” said General Manager at Bill Noble Park General Manager, Jesse Newsom.

The biggest hit of the night would have to be the water balloon toss. Not only did it give everyone a chance to have fun but if the balloon popped on you it was a great way to beat the heat of an Alabama summer night. With the success of the Summer Block Party, the fall event is sure to be an event you do not want to miss.

“Bill Noble Park is based on community and hosting these types of events give us a chance to interact with our local community that might not be involved in one of our sports programs” said Caeley Guthrie, Marketing & Customer Relations Manager.

In conjunction with Bill Noble’s Summer Block Party, the facility was also being utilized with other community partnerships and sporting events happening right alongside the preparations for the event. One community partnership takes place every Thursday with the Gardendale Farmer’s and June 27th was like every other Thursday for the public to come out and support local vendors and farmers to get fresh produce and handmade products.

Sports are a large part of what takes place at Bill Noble Park and Thursday June 27th was a sports filled day for the facility. The staff have partnered with the local middle school and hosts summer workouts for the football team throughout the week. There were two different skills camp taking place for young athletes on Thursday June 27th, first was the last day of a week-long baseball camp taught by UAB Baseball and the second was a softball showcase camp that had 20 different college coaches present and leading the camp through DC Elite Productions, with a total of 150 softball players.
